Utility and energy monitoring for pharmaceutical plants

Cleanrooms depend on HVAC, chilled water and compressed air staying within limits, around the clock. En-Stream watches those utilities and the energy behind them live, and alerts the right people the moment a reading drifts.

The problem

What keeps pharmaceutical utility teams busy

  1. Drift is found too late

A chiller, air handler or compressor that drifts out of range may only show up at the next manual round, after it has already affected production areas.

  2. Readings are scattered

Utility data sits in building systems, machine panels and logbooks, so trends are hard to see and reports are slow to compile.

  3. HVAC energy is hard to see

Air handlers, chillers and compressors run continuously, but their consumption is usually visible only on the monthly bill.

What to measure

Readings that matter in a pharmaceutical plant

En-Stream reads these from your existing meters, drives and controllers, or from transmitters wired to a gateway.

  • HVAC and air handlers

Power and running status of air handling units, fans and chillers, from their meters, drives and controllers.

  • Temperature, pressure and humidity

From transmitters on a gateway's 0–20 mA or 0–10 V inputs, with alarms on the limits you set.

  • Compressed air

Flow, pressure and compressor power, so leaks and abnormal demand show up early.

  • Boiler gas and fuel

Gas and fuel used by boilers and generators, next to electricity.

  • Energy by area and source

Consumption per block, building or utility, and supply from grid, generator and solar.

Result

A pharmaceutical manufacturer in Pakistan achieved ISO 50001 certification with En-Stream monitoring its energy use.

Challenge
ISO 50001 requires measured, ongoing data on how the site uses energy.
What we deployed
The ES-IGW-B1 Data Concentrator, connected to the En-Stream platform.
Outcome
ISO 50001 certified.
FAQ

Pharmaceutical monitoring FAQ

Does En-Stream help with ISO 50001?

ISO 50001 asks for measured, ongoing data on how a site uses energy. En-Stream provides it per meter, utility and energy source, and keeps the history for your reviews and audits. Certification itself is done by your certification body.

Can we keep a record of who changed what?

Yes. Audit logs record every action, and role-based access limits what each user can see.

Can it alert us when a cleanroom utility goes out of range?

Yes. Set alarm conditions on any reading, such as temperature, pressure or compressor status, and the right people are notified the moment it drifts.

Can the data stay on our own servers?

Yes. Run En-Stream on its hosted platform or on your own on-premises servers.
